VAI is the abbreviation of Visual Alignment Indicator is the acronym that identifies that the tire has the VAI technology: system for visual monitoring of wear and identification of irregularities.
VAI is represented by scratches or grooves in the tread with different depths.
If the grooves on the VAI wear differently, it means that the wheels are misaligned.
Wear varies greatly depending on the application, but with this technology it is possible to identify irregular wear even at the beginning of the tire’s useful life.
Misaligned wheels not only impact tire life, but also increase fuel consumption. If the two indicators match, it shows that the tires are wearing evenly and the wheels are properly aligned.
